The Korean car manufacturer has finally released its first crossover SUV, the GV80. The car is said to have inherited the best traits of the G70, G80 and G90, and is currently available domestically starting from U.S. $57,000 (other markets will follow later).
The appearance of the car is virtually identical to that of its concept version revealed at the 2017 New York show. The radiator grille is the same, the high-tech Quad Lamps serve as the headlights, and the signature ‘parabolic curve’ down the sides is present, too.
The interior also stays faithful to the pre-production version. You could say the Genesis GV80 is a fully digital car, given that it packs numerous touchscreens and hardly any hardware buttons. Even its SatNav system comes with support for Augmented Reality.
Further noteworthy details include handwritten input support, voice recognition, traffic noise analysis for active noise cancellation, air cleansing, driver drowsiness alert, adaptive cruise control with highway lane change capability, and more.
In its home market of South Korea, the SUV ships with only one engine: a 3.0-liter V6 diesel turbo rated at 278 hp (207 kW) and 588 Nm (434 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is eight-speed automatic, and you can choose between AWD and RWD.
The engine range for other markets has not been announced yet, but turbocharged gasoline units with 300 hp (224 kW) and 375 hp (280 kW) seem like the likeliest options.
