Geely’s best-selling domestic vehicle, the five-door hatchback known in China as the Xingyuan, is getting ready for an international launch if these spy shots are any indication.
The global market version will be called EX2, and everything suggests that we are looking at that exact version here. The exterior is pretty much unchanged from the Xingyuan, but the interior has added physical buttons on the center console, a transmission lever on the steering column and a new Galaxy badge on the steering wheel hub. Galaxy is an exports-oriented sub-brand of Geely, so this must be the EX2.
All powertrain details are pending. In China, the Xingyuan (see video) can be obtained with a 106-PS (104-hp / 78-kW) electric motor and a 30.12-kWh battery pack. Paying a premium unlocks a superior version with 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and 40 kWh of power storage. The former can do 310 kilometers on a charge and the latter can do 410 (192 and 254 miles, respectively).
Domestic prices range from 68,800 to 98,800 Yuan, which currently translates into U.S. $9,717–$13,954. Export pricing and specifications should be announced in a few weeks or months.
