GM lays off 1,000 employees

General Motors has announced staff cuts that will affect around 1,000 workers.

The company emailed the corresponding notifications to all affected employees last Friday. Most of the jobs being cut are at the company’s vehicle test grounds in Arizona and Michigan.

In a typical corporate manner, GM justified the cuts by needing “greater operational efficiency” to stay competitive on the challenging market of today.
