In early January, Mecum Auctions will be looking for a new owner for this GMC New Look camper bus produced in 1965 (see video).
The papers say the first owner was a military base somewhere in the United States. The bus was sold into private hands with a failed engine, and the enthusiast who bought it eventually spent 11 years restoring it as a big motorhome.
The engine and the gearbox were the first to go, replaced with modern parts. Wiring was repaired all around and cruise control was added along with other modern-day niceties.
The layout of the living space comprises a bathroom, a full-fledged kitchen, a bedroom, a dining room and even a bar. Most of the furniture inside is made from koa wood, and the occupants enjoy access to multiple TV sets, climate control and a premium audio system. Solar panels and a battery provide the charge for appliances.
