SVE to revive the GMC Syclone limited series based on the Canyon model

Coachbuilder Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) has announced the production start of a performance pickup truck model based on the modern GMC Canyon. The series will be called the GMC Syclone, referencing the famous vehicle from the early 1990s.

The original Syclone came out in 1991 in a series of fewer than 3,000 vehicles and instantly became a hit. It even managed to outrun the Ferrari 348ts in certain tests, earning it a reputation of a crazy performance truck.

SVE did not reveal the pricing for its GMC Syclone series, but it should be pretty expensive, considering the planned production amount of just 100 units. Each will get a 3.6-liter supercharged V6 engine rated at 455 hp (339 kW), connected to a cat-back exhaust system.

The tuner replaces the stock GMC Canyon wheels with custom 20-inch, five-spoke rims pained black. It also makes the brake discs larger and installs six-piston calipers instead of the standard four-piston ones. The suspension gets a rear sway bar for an added bit of stability, and the road clearance gets reduced by 50 mm / 2” (front axle) and 125 mm / 5” (rear axle).

You can easily identify the exclusive truck in the crowd thanks to its chrome-coated “motor dome” bulge on the hood, extended side skirts, restyled front bumper, and emblems that say “Syclone” and “455HP”.

The cabin remains largely stock, unless you count “Syclone” inscriptions on the seats and floor mats and the special plaque on the dashboard highlighting the limited status of the series.
