GMC has caused quite a stir when it posted a few tweets claiming the upcoming Hummer EV has a drive mode named “Crab Mode”. All details are being held secret, and the weird crab-shaped badge accompanying the post is not helping matters, either.
Actually, one guess kind of suggests itself. Crabs are marine animals known for their capability to move sideways rapidly. Could the battery-powered off-roader be capable of the same thing? At any rate, we have already seen the Rivian R1T truck do something quite similar (standing 360-degree turns, but still).
General Motors is reviving the Hummer brand to sell a new SUV and pickup truck under it. Both run on the BT1 platform and can have up to three electric motors joining up for 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts). The SUV version is said to be capable of launching 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in three seconds flat.
