1st Hummer EV to go under the hammer

GMC brought the Hummer brand name back from the grave for a high-end electric pickup, and now, the company specified what it intended to do with the first truck produced.

Apparently, the Edition 1 vehicle with chassis number 1 will go on sale at a Barret-Jackson auction, packing three motors and 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts). The monster car can reach 97 km/h (60 miles per hour) in three seconds flat and run 563 km (350 miles) on a single charge.

Included in the launch spec is an Extreme Off-Road Package (18” wheels, 35” tires, underbody protection), four-wheel steering, removable clear roof panels, a 13.4-inch touchscreen display, a 12.3-inch digital cockpit, SuperCruise, and a 14-speaker Bose audio. The exterior is white, and the cabin is Lunar Horizon with bronze décor.

The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 costs U.S. $112,595, and the entire batch has been sold out via $100 deposit pre-orders in less than a day.

It remains to be seen how much the battery truck fetches at the sale or where (and when) it will take place. GMC pledges to redirect the earnings to charity, in particular the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers fund.
