Barrett-Jackson’s has held a charity auction for the first GMC Hummer EV to have rolled off the assembly line. The buyer paid $2.5 million USD for his Edition 1 model.
General Motors will only be shipping the Edition 1 Hummer EV throughout the launch year. The entire series has been sold out through pre-orders within an hour last fall, despite the $112,595 final price tag.
The car comes powered by three electric motors summarily rated at 1,012 PS (1,000 hp / 745 kW). Its range exceeds 563 km (350 miles).
The specification is rather luxurious and includes partial self-driving, 4WS, bottom-mounted video cameras, adaptive air-ride suspension, Crab Mode for sideways movement, a digital dashboard, a large infotainment screen, and a Sports Mode enabling a sprint to 97 km/h (60 mph) in three seconds flat.
Those who missed their opportunity to get the Edition 1 will have to wait until the fall of 2022 for new options to become available. This notably includes the $99,995 Hummer EV3x spec with the same powertrain, chassis and suspension, but less equipment and options. Next up in the queue is the EV2x, which costs $10,000 less, has two motors and is coming in the spring of 2023. Finally, the base EV2 trim will arrive a year after the EV2x discounted by another $10,000.
Aside from this, GMC will soon be revealing an SUV variant of the Hummer EV; pricing and availability remain unknown.
