GMC Hummer EV turns out even heavier than expected

Despite revealing the all-electric Hummer truck last fall, General Motors is in no hurry to disclose its final production specs. As we just learned, the monstrous machine isn’t just powerful – it also weighs all of 9,046 pounds (4,103 kilos).

For comparison, the army-issue Hummer H1 and the six-wheeled Mercedes-Benz G 63 6x6 AMG are both considerably lighter. Then again, the curb weight stated above only applies to the maxed-out Edition One spec, which includes three electric motors and a humongous battery rumored to store up to 200 kilowatt-hours of power. Unofficial reports claim it will be enough for 550+ kilometers (350 miles) of uninterrupted driving.

Since recently, the Hummer family has the SUV variant of the Hummer, which is marginally less powerful at 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW). It still benefits from a vast array of innovative systems, including Crab Mode, 4WS, semi-autonomous mode, and bottom-mounted cameras.

The truck should debut next fall, while its five-door off-roading counterpart will linger until the spring of 2023.
