GMC to launch another battery truck ‘in due time’

Apparently, the recently revealed GMC Hummer EV will not remain the company’s only full-electric pickup truck for too long. According to Buick-GMC Sales VP Duncan Aldred, another full-sized model is underway to the market as well.

He did not reveal any further details, saying only that the car will debut ‘in due time’. We have an interesting guess of our own, though. Chevrolet announced an electric Silverado model not long ago, emphasizing that it would not be derivative from the ICE-powered truck, but rather a standalone model based on the GM Ultium platform. The Hummer EV actually uses the same chassis and tech, and we expect the mystery newcomer to be built on the same components as well.

Chevrolet mentioned that its pickup would have around 400 miles (645 kilometers) of driving range, so we’d expect about the same from the still-unnamed GMC model. In any case, it should not reach the market until 2023 or later.
