An editor of GM-Trucks.com stumbled upon a button in the GMC Hummer EV that apparently had no function associated with it, and contacted the manufacturer – only to learn that that was the whole point.
Apparently, the button on the right side of the selector knob carries no practical purpose. The left-side one is for Crab Mode, the top one is for air suspension, but pressing the one on the right displays the following message: “Your mode. Your mission.” It also displays the e-mail address epicideas@gmc.com.
According to the automaker, this was deliberate. The company wanted Hummer EV drivers to decide for themselves what that button would do. An over-the-air update will be issued once the company gets enough feedback and suggestions, and the button will become functional at last.
Earlier this month, the company announced that the Hummer EV was sold out for the whole first production year. It also introduced a heavy five-door SUV on the same platform as the truck in 2021, but that one will have to wait until 2023.
