The 2022 model year version of the GMC Sierra 1500 will debut early next year, but the date remains unannounced. In the meantime, the truck is already rolling around wrapped in thick camo.
Judging by the sheer amount of wrapping going on, we should be looking forward to major design changes – new headlights and bumpers are pretty much guaranteed, and likely more.
Additionally, it looks like the trim version being tested is a Denali – note the chrome-coated mirrors, door handles and moldings. Finally, the radiator grille sports a different kind of mesh in its lower part. We cannot say for sure if it is a deliberate design decision or just a decoy that will not go into production.
Industry observers tend to agree that the new pickup truck will keep its usual engine palette, which consists of three engines. There’s a 3.0L Duramax diesel rated at 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) and 624 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque, a V8 5.3 DFM good for 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW) and 518 Nm (382 lb-ft), and a V8 6.2 DFM capable of 426 PS (420 hp / 313 kW) and 624 Nm (460 lb-ft).
