GMC Sierra EV reveals face

GMC already has one electric vehicle – the Hummer EV – on its lineup, and a fresh video sheds some light (literally) on the second one, which looks like a Sierra pickup.

The 18-second-long teaser focuses on the front clip of the car with an abundance of illuminated parts – the headlights and the DRLs shine hardly brighter than the faux grille frame and the badge do. The company points out that each element has its own lighting pattern, but this remains to be seen.

When the Hummer EV debuted, it had LED strip indicators to show how much charge its batteries held. The alleged Sierra EV could get the same gimmick, but do not hold us to it. In fact, note that while the teaser is official, the name ‘Sierra’ is not. For all we know, the truck could premiere under an entirely different name.

Trim-wise, luxury-laden Denali is going to be the only level available. CarBuzz believes that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will fill the affordable niche instead. That one is still years away, however, while the Sierra is expected to debut in the coming weeks.

The standard ICE Sierra received its latest facelift this fall, ending up with a particularly rugged version and a more up-to-date adaptive cruise control system. The V6 was dropped from the lineup, but the V8, the 3.0L TDI and the turbo four-pot remain available.
