Almost unused 1993 GMC Typhoon is on sale for $61k+

One out of 2,200 GMC Typhoon off-roaders is up for grabs in the USA right now with only 272 miles (438 km) under its belt and a top bid of $60,888, although there is still time for the auction to pick up the pace.

The Typhoon came to the market to phase out the Cyclone and was in production for less than three years. This example with a serial number 2143 is one of the last made.

Marketed back in its era as a sporty off-roader, the car has corresponding chassis settings, a heavy-duty sway bar at the front end, and an airlift at the rear end to keep the clearance consistent. Performance brakes are also included.

GMC bundled the Typhoon with a 4.7-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine made from parts supplied by Garrett and Mitsubishi. The output maxed out at 285 PS (281 hp / 210 kW) and 474 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. A four-speed A/T drove all four wheels through a limited-slip differential in the back.

Media reviews of the early 1990s found that the car was capable of going 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 5.3 seconds, which was comparable to some sports cars of that era.

The example on sale boasts an OEM body kit, a black exterior with golden accents, 16-inch wheels and a black leather interior with some grey plastic trim in sight. The trim specification states an AC, cruise control, and an audio system with an EQ and a CD player.
