General Motors doesn’t cut too many corners equipping its utility vehicles with powerful V8 engines, but GM specialist and tuner Callaway still offers a considerable boost over stock performance.
Two packages are available for ordering, called the SC502 and SC602. The former targets the 5.3-liter V8, pushing it to 527 PS (520 hp / 388 kW). The latter is meant for the larger 6.2-liter mill and persuades it to churn out 610 PS (602 hp / 449 kW) – whole 185 metric horses (182 hp / 135 kW) more than the stock output. It is also worth pointing out that both tuning kits are road-legal and emission-compliant throughout the entire United States.
From the technical perspective, the upgrade consists of an Eaton TVS supercharger encased in a custom housing, a TripleCooling system for keeping the induction air nice and cool, and a stainless-steel exhaust system culminating in a quarter of tailpipes. The latter is said to improve the engine’s working temperatures while simultaneously endowing it with a richer sound and even raising its performance a little bit.
The kits are compatible with all recent Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade modifications, including top specs like the XL and the ESV. A number of trucks and SUVs is slated to join the supported list soon.
As one would expect, though, such extensive mods come at a price to match them, and this one is no exception. The bare minimum you’ll be expected to pay is $25,000.
