Wey strikes a deal with Brabus to enter markets in Europe

Wey, a Chinese car marque and part of Great Wall Motors Company Ltd., has unveiled the first teaser images of its upcoming Wey-S Concept, which it plans to reveal at the IAA Frankfurt show coming up on September 12-22, 2019.

If the concept makes it into series, it will be available on several markets worldwide, including Europe.

Based on the photos, the car is a mini-SUV with an all-electric powertrain. The latter is evidenced by the missing front grille and tailpipes. Other notable features include video cameras instead of side mirrors, ‘suicide doors’ in the rear, and a shark-fin roof attachment that doubles as a brake signal.

Perhaps most interestingly, though, the project is supervised by Brabus – a famous German customizer and tuner charged with making the vehicle attractive for European clientele.

Great Wall and Brabus signed a cooperation agreement this spring, resolving to unite their efforts in designing exteriors, interiors and powertrains of new cars. They also agreed that Brabus would help release limited editions of Wey-branded vehicles. The Wey-S Concept is their first collaboration.

On a side note, Wey took part in the IAA Frankfurt 2017 with a design study called XEV (see video). The vehicle caused much controversy, with many admitting that it looked horrible to them. Perhaps this is why the manufacturer secured the assistance from Brabus for its second attempt.
