The young Chinese car maker WEY announces a new hybrid crossover SUV

The Chinese company WEY, a recent player on the car market and a part of Great Wall holding, has demonstrated its next hybrid crossover series WEY P8 PHEV during the International Car Show in Guangzhou, China.

According to official sources, the environment-friendly car gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine and an additional electric motor per axle. Working together, these shall output 335 HP at 520 Nm torque, allowing the WEY P8 PHEV to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 6.5 seconds. Electric motors will be sufficient for 50 km / 31 mi traveling distance. One notable feature of the car is that it only takes 4 hours for it to charge from a regular wall socket.

In order to give the Lexus RX 450h a worthy competitor, designers of WEY P8 PHEV endowed it with a wide range of useful options, such as an adaptive cruise control system, autonomous emergency brake system, lane control system, collision system and some others.

There is still no information as to whether the WEY P8 PHEV gets released outside China.
