Ora trusts the Internet to pick a name for its Beetle-like EV

Chinese carmaker Ora is known for its inclination towards retro-futuristic car designs, and the latest concept is another example of that. The car will debut in Shanghai on April 19 and will be named whatever the Internet public votes for.

Obvious Beetle McBeetleface jokes aside, the fastback does remind us of the original VW Beetle. One has to wonder if the German company was wrong to force retirement upon its legendary bestseller.

The newcomer is all vintage shapes and chrome lines with miniature round side mirrors, a thin steering wheel and turbine-shaped air deflectors in the cabin. There is also a 7-inch digital dash screen and a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

It looks like the fastback might share the chassis and powertrains with the Haomao/Good Cat model shown in the attached video. That one uses an electric motor rated at 143 PS (141 hp / 105 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque and has 501 km (311 miles) of NEDC-rated range.
