Great Wall rolls out another Tank SUV

The Tank 400 was among the premieres of this year’s Chengdu Auto Show along with the Tank 500 revealed earlier. It features a distinct and aggressive style of its own, a luxurious interior and quite a bit of off-road prowess.

While the Tank 300 resembles the Mercedes G-Class and the Tank 500 copies the Land Cruiser, the new 400 model enjoys an original design with lots of sharp edges, broken lines and masculine vibes.

The interior features the Tank series’ signature round air vents, an elaborate center tunnel with a unique gear selector, and a three-spoke steering wheel. A large elongated touchscreen display and a digital dashboard with three chrome-encircled imitations of recessed analog gauges are especially interesting here.

As for the technical parameters, the only thing revealed at the show is the wheelbase length of 2,850 mm. This makes the Tank 400 comparable to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Haval H9. Rumor has it that it is actually based on the H9, and the rear axle seen on the photos seems to support this theory.

The Tank 500, which was revealed a few days ago, came powered by a 3.0-liter V6 rated at 364 PS (359 hp / 268 kW) in tandem with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
