The Chinese manufacturer is getting a new crossover SUV ready to rumble, which the media had first called the successor of the H5 model. As it turns out, the car comes based on the new B06 platform and goes by a different name.
You can have a peek into our gallery to see what it looks like, but the technical specs remain largely unknown. The company mentions an “SUV 3/4 Product Concept”, which reportedly means that the new car is three-quarters of a serious off-roader and one-quarter of an urban crossover. This may or may not be just a way to advertise the transition of the H5 series to using unitized body designs.
The funniest part was the poll that Haval published, asking its customers to come up with a creative name for the SUV. The winning name translates from Chinese into English as “Big Dog”. Note that this is not the official English name of the car just yet; the final decision will be made soon.
Haval explains that buying a car is a major event in one’s life and could be compared to adopting a pet, so “Big Dog” actually sounds a good fit for the SUV. The company now considers giving its models other animal-related names in the future.
