Large Haval SUV crops up on spy photos

Haval is getting closer to introducing a new full-size SUV so far only known as the P04. The spy shots come from CarNewsChina, which claims the model is based on the King Kong Poer pickup shown in the video below.

We are also told that the premiere is scheduled for September 2023, but it is not official at this time. On the exterior side of things, the newcomer looks much like the Poer pickup mentioned above save for the different body style and a couple of other minor details. In particular, there is no Poer badge on the front grille – just a couple of large horizontal stripes. The rear end draws attention to its large glass dome and rather slim d-pillars.

We assume that the P04 is a seven-seater with an interior layout similar or identical to that of the truck it is based upon.

CarNewsChina adds that the vehicle is approximately 5.2 x 2.0 x 1.8 meters large, making it much bulkier than even the Great Wall Tank 500 (the Haval brand is also part of the Great Wall Group).

But while the Tank 500 utilizes a V6 rated at 354 PS (349 hp / 260 kW), the P04 is rumored to be coming with a much tamer 2.0L four-cylinder engine offering a choice between 197 PS (194 hp / 145 kW) and 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW). The transmission is reportedly eight-speed automatic in both cases, and all four wheels are driven.
