Haval Xianglong official pics released

Haval has posted the first photos of its new off-roader provisionally named ‘B26’. According to CarNewsChina referencing unofficial sources, it will be a body-on-frame SUV running on hybrid power. The market name will allegedly be ‘Xianglong’.

The same car has apparently been spotted on the streets before – check out the rest of the gallery. It looked unusually boxy by Haval design standards – not even the Dargo or the new H5 are this brutal-looking. That said, certain design cues make us believe the vehicle is closer to the Wey Tank lineup in terms of styling – note the large radiator grille with vertical bars and the stamped hood cover.

An unpainted-plastic body kit serves to enhance the ‘rugged off-roader’ impression, as do imitated skid plates and a spare wheel on the tailgate. The official photos do not show it, but the wheel is there in the spy shots.

As for the powertrains, we have a fairly good guess. There are ports at both sides of the SUV and one of the photos shows it standing next to a wall charger. As such, chances are good that the Haval Xianglong will ship with Great Wall’s recently announced Hi4-series hybrid powertrain. It incorporates a 1.5-liter petrol engine and two e-motors and drives the wheels with roughly 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW).

According to CarNewsChina, the SUV is expected to go on sale on the domestic market in H2 2023.
