Unofficial: Haval Dagou/Dargo getting ready for an update

Haval, a Great Wall Motor company, is preparing its Dargo crossover known as the DaGou on the domestic market for a moderate update. This is reported by the local Tianjin newspaper citing conflicting accounts as to whether it is a facelift or a full-blown next generation we should be looking forward to.

Reportedly, Haval revealed its plans for the Dargo to a local government official visiting its factory. The industrial site is currently undergoing modernization to produce other Great Wall Group cars as well, including Ora and Wey brands. The official claims he was shown the new Dargo in person, and points out that it was a hybrid.

This means that, in addition to exterior and interior modifications, the car may ship with a new powertrain. The newspaper quotes its output as follows: 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder – 154 PS (152 hp / 114 kW) and 233 Nm (172 lb-ft), electric motor – 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft), total system output – 243 PS (240 hp / 179 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft).

It is perhaps still too early to expect the second generation, though. The DaGou only reached the domestic market less than two years ago and remains quite popular there, meaning there is no rush to redesign it. As such, the automaker will probably just produce a new version of it along with a light cosmetic brush-up.
