Haval has officially announced the pricing for its second-generation Big Dog SUV a.k.a. Dargo in China. Formerly known as the H-Dog, the vehicle is larger and at the same time considerably less expensive than its predecessor.
Specifically, AutoHome is reporting that the entry spec will set you back 135,800 Yuan, while the petrol top spec will cost 156,800 Yuan, around 10,000 Yuan less than the first-gen Big Dog with all boxes ticked.
The newcomer boasts a dynamic and less boxy silhouette and look sleek despite being larger at 4,705 x 1,908 x 1,780 millimeters (L/W/H). The wheelbase amounts to 2,810 mm. Inside, the center tunnel has become much larger and the dash/infotainment displays grew in size to 12.3 and 14.6 inches, respectively. There are also as many as 35 niches and pockets for small items, and the infotainment system is entirely new.
Customers can choose from three powertrains There is a 1.5-liter petrol engine offering 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and its 2.0-liter counterpart with 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW). Both can be obtained with either a seven- or a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission, but only the stronger engine gets AWD as a paid option.
And then there is a hybrid. A 1.5-liter turbo engine joins forces with an electric motor for 326 PS (322 hp / 240 kW). Depending on your chosen battery size, the all-electric range can be either 50 or 105 km (31 or 65 miles). This version starts from 162,800 Yuan and climbs to 175,800 Yuan in the top version.
While not official, it is likely that the old Haval Big Dog will remain on sale alongside the newer generation for a while, as Chinese car marques often do.
