Haval has shared a photo of a new full-size SUV provisionally known as the P04. The media learned before that the vehicle would share the platform with the Great Wall King Kong Poer truck (see video).
CarNewsChina believes the manufacturer was forced to reveal the SUV after a leak claiming that it would be sold as the next generation of the Haval H5. The publication claims that the same teaser made it to the Internet several hours ahead of the official post. Interestingly, the car had a plate reading “the brand-new Haval H5”. On the final version of the pic, the plate says “Haval P04”.
Coming in at over 5 meters (16.4 feet) long, the P04 is a rather bulky utility vehicle. It has a body-on-frame construction and may ship with a number of two-liter turbo engine options to choose from, like the King Kong Poer it is based upon. The latter maxes out at 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW).
On the exterior side of things, the main features are large headlights, a massive radiator grille, elaborately sculpted panels all around and broad d-pillars. The cabin shots reveal an interior that arguably suits a light passenger car more – unlike some of Haval’s other creations, this one does not go for a brutal and masculine aesthetic.
