Chinese automaker Great Wall intends to introduce its subordinate Haval brand in India in 2021. The company plans to sell three of its existing crossovers there, named the H4, H6, and H9. All will be present at the Auto Expo coming up on February 7–12, 2020.
Right now, the corporation conducts negotiations with the local authorities and looks for a suitable production site. Constructing a new site, which would be Great Wall’s second one outside of China, is not considered a viable option. Instead, the company seeks a factory it can occupy and outfit with all the necessary equipment.
The Haval H4, which is going to be 4,410 millimeters (14.47 feet) long, is going to become the staple model in the Indian H lineup. In China, the car ships with a 1.5-liter engine turbocharged to deliver 150 hp (112 kW), although you can opt for a performance version with 169 hp (126 kW). The transmission can be manual or semi-automatic. It appears likely that the Indian version will ship with a diesel engine or two.
The H6 is technically identical to the H4 and has the same drivetrain. The range-topping H9 packs a 2.0 TSI four-cylinder rated at 224 hp (167 kW) and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft), which uses an eight-speed automatic gearbox to send the power to the wheels.
Great Wall admits that it might end up having to postpone the Indian market entry until mid-2022 if it fails to find a suitable production site.
