Haval spied testing a new CUV, could be a wallet-friendly Jolion alternative

A couple of disguised Haval prototypes have recently been spotted in China. The car appears built on the same Lemon platform as the Jolion and Dargo, but could be cheaper than both. The premiere is expected at the Guangzhou Motor Show starting on November 18.

Based on the photos, the overall styling resembles that of the Jolion (see video), instead of the much boxier Dargo. The headlights are boomerang-shaped, but, unlike the Jolion, the new crossover SUV has the main headlamps installed below. Its taillights also appear thinner than those of the Jolion.

What little can be seen of the cabin suggests a colorful trim, a bulky center tunnel with an unusual gear lever and a large head unit standing separate from the digital dash.

Rumor has it that the car will first ship with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) of torque, which will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission. A hybrid version will reportedly be introduced later.

Early this fall, Haval announced two new crossover SUVs slates for release until the end of the current year. We know on official terms that one of these is the production car based on the H-Dog Concept, and the test vehicle spotted on the roads of China yesterday must be the other one.
