According to CarNewsChina, automaker Haval is working on a new SUV that it plans to name ‘Veyron’, the same as Bugatti’s iconic hypercar. It will allegedly reach the showrooms next year with several hybrid powertrains to choose from.
The insider told the publication that the Haval Veyron is a larger and slightly more upmarket version of the already-released Raptor model (in the gallery and the video below). It would make sense for the SUV to receive the same styling, but we suspect that the interior will have three seat rows instead of the Raptor’s two.
For the powertrain, the car is most likely to utilize the Hi-4 PHEV system by Great Wall. Armed by an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors, it may output up to 378 PS (373 hp / 278 kW) along with 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. All-electric and hybrid modes will be supported along with precise torque vectoring. The battery range is estimated at 115 km (71.5 mi).
The insider claims that the China-made Veyron SUV will be priced just under 200,000 Yuan (U.S. $27,400) when it debuts, making it only slightly more expensive than the Raptor.
