U.S.-based car builder Hennessey will soon begin testing its Venom F5 hypercar in real world conditions. The F5 is going to be the fastest-going car in the world when it hits the market in 2020.
For those of you who didn’t know or remember, the ‘F5’ model name affix essentially means the strongest possible tornado, as measured by the Fujita–Pearson scale, with wind speeds reaching 512 km/h (318 mph).
According to Hennessey CEO, the Venom F5 will be getting a 7.6-liter, eight-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at 2,000+ hp (1,500+ kW). The company will reveal its exact power output later on. Notably enough, there will be no electric motor in the drivetrain.
First road tests will commence in 2019. The developer team will attempt to get their hypercar to speeds exceeding 500 km/h (311 mph).
The current fastest-going mass-produced car is the Koenigsegg Agera RS, which has once managed to hit 444.6 km/h (276.3 mph).
