U.S.-based car tuner and budding manufacturer Hennessey keeps working on its first-ever model, the Venom F5. Today, the company revealed one of the vehicle’s earlier renderings along with updated specs.
Apparently, the Hennessey Venom F5 will strive hard to set a new world record as the single fastest production car in history. Some time earlier, Bugatti officially dropped out of competition after producing its Chiron Super Sport Edition (Vmax: 300 mph, or 483 km/h).
The last official speed record for the Venom F5 amounted to 290 miles per hour (467 km/h), but the company now says that the hypercar will shoot straight through 500 km/h (310 mph). It has also managed to improve the earlier engine specs from 1,600 hp (1,193 kW) to 1,840 hp (1,372 kW) and 1,617 Nm (1,206 lb-ft) of torque.
The first out of the 24 units planned for production should be finished this summer. The recently announced Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut might rival it in terms of speed by then, with the Swedish manufacturer claiming it can do up to 532 km/h (330 mph) in a straight line. However, this number is theoretical at the time, because no suitable racetrack exists where the Jesko Absolut would be able to attain this kind of acceleration.
