Hennessey Performance had hoped to unveil its Venom F5 hypercar in November, but things went quiet after the July teaser. Now, the tuner returns with a promise to hold the premiere on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
John Hennessey’s auto workshop has been producing custom performance vehicles for many years, but never made a 100% original car. Its Venom GT model from earlier was essentially a modded Lotus sports car. With the launch of the Venom F5, the company will change its logo and finally become a full-fledged automaker.
Hennessey promises us that the final production version of the F5 will feature unparalleled aerodynamics and will look very different from the design study revealed a couple years ago (see the gallery). Its interior, in particular, will evoke aerospace vibes.
The Venom F5 uses a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 1,844 metric horsepower (1,817 U.S. horsepower, or 1,356 kilowatts). Its top speed will exceed 500 km/h (310 mph), making it the only worthy opponent of the SSC Tuatara.
