Hennessey Performance continues testing its Venom F5 hypercar destined to become the world’s fastest production vehicle. Here’s the latest video from field tests.
The prototype coupe was able to hit 200 miles per hour (322 km/h) on a 3.5-kilometer (2.17-mile) long runway despite being artificially limited to around 900 HP (670 kW).
When unleashed in its full glory, the 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 “Fury” pumps out all of 1,842 PS (1,817 HP / 1,355 kW) and 1,617 Nm (1,193 lb-ft) of torque. If this weren’t enough, consider that the car manages to weigh as little as 1,360 kg (3,000 lbs).
The company claims that the V8 “Fury” is the single most powerful production engine in history, and that the power-to-weight ratio it enables is downright unparalleled.
When it is ready to debut, the Hennessey Venom F5 will be able to sprint 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in under three seconds and eventually hit 500 km/h (310 miles per hour), the company says.
