Hennessey delivers the first customer’s Venom F5

With the arrival of the Venom F5 supercar series, Hennessey cements its position on the market as a car manufacturer, rather than just a tuner.

The first coupe out of the 24 units planned for production just shipped to Howard Panes, who likely paid over $2,100,000 for it. The businessman ordered his exotic ride in blue with orange accents both outside and inside.

Chances are this particular Venom will be registered in the United States and limited to 2,500 miles (4,023 kilometers) of range until it is no longer road-legal. The lack of airbags prevents it from being recognized as a safe vehicle.

As for the power, the Venom F5 utilizes an impressively sized 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 1,817 PS (1,792 hp / 1,336 kW) and 1,617 Nm (1,193 lb-ft) of torque. Outfitted like this, the supercar zaps from nothing to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.6 seconds and proceeds to go 0-250 mph (0-402 km/h) in 15.5 seconds. Hennessey claims it has a theoretical top speed of 500 km/h (310 mph).
