BASF, a company specializing in car enamels among other things, has shared its perspective on the trending colors in the automotive industry. The pigments shown here will become commonplace on vehicles within the next few years as carmakers are trying to break free from the currently dominant black, grey and white palette, the company believes.
For the United States, BASF proposes yellow and green tints since they have a ‘cooling effect’, positively affect mood and ‘expand the color spaces.’
For the Middle East, Africa and Europe, BASF suggests focusing on pastel and beige tones – these used to be popular once, but are basically non-existent on the roads nowadays.
Finally, the Southeastern Asia and the Pacific should consider painting their vehicles in fluorescent red and pastel green – these two shades will be all the rage in a few years, BASF believes.
In composing the palette, the company has taken all modern automotive trends into account, including the impending total electrification, focus on environmentally clean materials, addition of new body trim pieces (like the faux grille) and components (like the charging port), and so on.
