Australian wagon evolves into a supercar killer thanks to tuning

Before the advent of crossovers and SUVs, wagons used to be known as some of the most practical vehicles out there. Performance was often a weak spot, but the Holden Commodore Sportwagon sold in Australia did not lack in that department, either.

Still, Glenn Tronc, who owns the example pictured here, decided that his ride’s six-liter non-turbo V8 was underpowered at 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque. He upgraded it with a giant 91mm turbo kit and managed to raise the output to 1,145 PS (1,129 hp / 842 kW). If that wasn’t scary enough, consider that the car still has a manual transmission that sends the torque to the rear axle exclusively.

On the exterior side of things, Australia’s craziest Commodore sports a non-OEM red paint and 20-inch bronze wheels filling out their respective arches perfectly thanks to air-ride suspension.
