Honda Civic goes off-road

Honda will come to the Tokyo Auto Salon with the Civic Versatilist, a hatchback concept with lifted suspension. The car will target active drivers who like to spend a weekend in the wilderness.

Aside from the increased ride height, the cross-country version of Civic will get side wings mounted on the front doors, several purpose-built aero parts and a plastic body kit to protect it from nicks and scratches.

There is no data regarding engine availability, but Honda will likely reveal it simultaneously with the premiere.

Apart from the Civic Versatilist, the company will also introduce the guests of the show to a ‘futuristic family car’, as well as the S660 Neo Classic Racer kei car based on the S600 Roadster chassis. The latter will sport an aggressively-styled front, bolt-on fender flares, a hood clasp made of leather. and fender-mounted side mirrors. The unusual design was apparently inspired by the Honda S500 racecar.
