Honda to unveil Tomo mini-pickup at the Geneva fair

At the annual Geneva Motor Show coming up in March 2019, car manufacturer Honda will reveal a new subcompact pickup truck named Tomo. A group of 13 students from the European Institute of Design (IED) developed the car with some assistance from Honda design department and the chief designer of Automobili Pininfarina.

The new Honda Tomo will enter production in EDAG works in Italy. The company mentions that the truck is 3,990 mm (13.1 ft.) long, but doesn’t provide any of its other dimensions. It also says it is a pure EV, but doesn’t talk engine specs, either.

Perhaps the most interesting part of all is how Honda markets the new mini-truck as “the ultimate means of transportation for young people”. It goes on to supply such terms as “gadget on wheels”, “assistant” and “friend who is always ready to come help you”. In fact, “Tomo” is Japanese for “friend”.

We only have these exterior photos to go by so far, and the company remains tight-lipped about the interior and tech. Still, we can safely expect the car to get the same kind of widescreen digital dash as the one we have seen on the Honda Urban EV Concept.
