Honda has released a few new bits of information concerning its upcoming all-electric urban hatchback named simply ‘Honda e’. Read on for such details as engine power, range, and chassis features.
The car comes based on a rear-wheel-drive platform and has 150 horsepower (~110 kilowatts) along with 300 Nm (221 pound-feet) at its disposal. It sources power from a 35.5-kWh battery that the company claims is sufficient for 200 kilometers (124 miles) of range. Charging it from zero to 80 percent full takes 30 minutes at a high-power DC charging outlet.
There is no sprint information available yet, but unofficial sources claim the car runs 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in slightly less than 8 seconds.
Other than that, Honda lists the following features of its new battery hatch: perfect axle load distribution; short overhangs; small dimensions; low center of gravity; and an exceptionally low turn radius (4.3 meters, or 14.1 feet).
The Honda e also packs a new feature called Single Pedal Control, which enables the driver to accelerate and decelerate using the same physical pedal.
In an earlier news, Honda said the ‘e’ would ship with video cameras instead of side mirrors.
The company has received over 31,000 pre-orders for the vehicle since May 2019. Shipments are scheduled for the next spring.
