Japanese car manufacturer Honda has released some much-anticipated details concerning the multimedia capabilities of its upcoming all-electric urban car, the ‘e’. The model gets as many as five standalone displays, prompting the question: what for?
The displays are arranged in a row along the entire dashboard. The two closest to the a-pillars act as a replacement for side mirrors. The one in the middle functions as the rear view mirror. The instrument panel lies directly in front of the driver and displays useful status information, such as the current drive mode, remaining battery charge and charging status.
Two giant 12.3-inch touchscreens occupy the rest of the dash. They follow the same touch interface logic as all modern smartphones.
The Honda e will be revealed later this year. It has been previously confirmed that the range will ship with a single electric motor (150 hp / 112 kW) connected to a 35.5 kWh battery. The driving range will amount to 200 kilometers (124 miles).
Pre-orders have been open since May, and the company says it has already received around 36,000.
