Honda prepares Augmented Driving Concept for CES reveal

The Japanese automaker will be premiering the Augmented Driving Concept at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2020) in Las-Vegas in early January.

The concept envisages a smooth and convenient transition between fully automated and semi-automatic driving. To this end, the concept car – a two-door convertible – comes equipped with an autopilot system with as many as eight autonomy stages and a futuristic steering wheel simultaneously acting as an interface for the system.

As for the design study itself, its main stylistic cues include a shortened windshield, round headlights, an untra-minimalistic interior with only two seats and virtually no controls (not even touch panels). The company assumes that the steering wheel will be enough for most kinds of interaction with the car.
