The Japanese car giant Honda said it was working on a self-driving car technology together with the China-based SenseTime Group. The parties have signed a five-year cooperation agreement.
The research team endeavors to develop and test various technologies aimed at real-time moving object detection and recognition as well as traffic situation monitoring, prediction and planning. Its ultimate goal is a system which would ensure completely safe autonomous car driving in urban conditions.
In accordance with an earlier statement, the first self-driving Honda car should see its market release in 2025 or later, whereas implementation of semi-autonomous drive modes on the mass market should begin as early as 2020.
