The wind tunnel resides in East Liberty, Ohio, USA. It has two different configurations for two types of vehicles: high-riding ones, like SUVs and crossovers, and low-riding ones, like city cars and track vehicles.
Responsible for the airflow is a single 12-bladed fan around 26 feet (8 meters) in diameter. Hollow carbon blades have only 4 mm (0.15”) of spacing between them, which enables simulating movement speeds up to 310 km/h (192 mph) at just 250 revolutions per minute. The electric motor rotating the fan is rated at five megawatts (6,798 European horsepower, or 6,704 U.S. horsepower).
