The Honda e:Ny1 is a crossover SUV riding in the tracks of the Honda e hatchback, the marque’s first foray into the EV territory in Europe. The specs are already known, and the sales will begin later this year.
The car was announced last spring. From a formal standpoint, it is considered a standalone model designed on the front-wheel-drive platform known as the e:N Architecture F. However, in terms of chassis and exterior, it really borrows much from the electric version of the new HR-V/Vezel. Two technically similar electric cars have been in production in China for a while now: dubbed the Dongfeng e:NS1 and the GAC e:NP1, they are largely the same car with only minor visual differences.
The Honda e:Ny1 for Europe is only obtainable with the top-spec powertrain, though: a single e-motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque. The traction battery holds 68.8 kWh of juice and yields up to 412 km (256 miles) of WLTP-rated driving range. Charging from 10 to 80% takes only 45 minutes.
In its interior and exterior design, the e:Ny1 is almost a spitting image of its China-made counterparts. The main trim highlight – for us, at least – is a 15.1-inch infotainment display included as standard.
