Casio launches a wristwatch series to celebrate Honda tuner’s birthday

Mugen Motorsports, a tuning company specializing in racing engine builds and Honda car tuning, is turning 50 soon, and watchmaker Casio decided to mark the occasion with something special.

According to Carscoops, this is the first time the two Japanese companies team up on anything. In the United States, the Edifice Mugen Edition watch will cost $300.

The casing is molded from a carbon-reinforced polymer material. The overall design is inspired by Formula One racecar suspension. Mugen badges and its four trademark colors (white, red, gold and black) can be found on the watch face and the wrist band, which is trimmed with Alcantara.

The markings on the bezel are made in a special font called Mugen, and the face is screened with ultra-hard sapphire glass. The rear lid is made of stainless steel and bears custom engravings. Casio says the backlight is extremely bright in this version.

Owners can tether their watch to their smartphone via Bluetooth for automatic precise time setting. A dedicated mobile app is also provided for those who find it more convenient to set alarms and configure other functions via the smartphone.
