The Honda-Dongfeng joint enterprise producing Honda cars for the domestic market of China has announced the launch of a new brand named Lingxi. Per CarNewsChina, this alliance is the country’s first joint enterprise to announce the creation of its own subordinate brand. Lingxi will be making novel-looking electric cars, and the first concept has already debuted.
Called Lingxi L, it is an aggressively styled saloon with triangular headlights, a steering yoke and a display spanning the entire width of the dashboard. There are no technical specifications so far, and the car looks more like a design mockup than an actual prototype. Still, the marque promises us to deliver the final production version next year.
Honda and Dongfeng also claim that Lingxi will be taking advantage of its own proprietary vehicle architecture not based on any existing solutions of either automaker. It will also enjoy its own market positioning that will prevent it from competing with its two parent brands. Honda will only provide a few technologies to the company to get it started, and will help with the distribution of cars across its own network.
