Honda has posted the first teaser image of a still-unnamed electric car scheduled for premiere at the CES show in Las Vegas on January 9, 2024. The new model will help the Japanese automaker fulfill its strategic goal of 2,000,000 EVs produced annually.
The pic only previews a small part of the front end – unusually tapered with a nearly upright faux grille in the middle and a pronounced splitter. A wheel sporting a unique spoke pattern can also be seen.
Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe will personally lead the presentation of this new EV. We also expect him to reveal the company’s next plans moving forward.
Based on this highly futuristic sketch, though, we suspect that the car won’t be ready for production. It looks more like a sporty concept at this time. Honda currently has no electric sports cars on the market but the executives had said on multiple occasions that they wanted one in the lineup.
Insider reports came in earlier that the marque’s first EV would be a mid-engine successor of sorts to the iconic S2000 model (shown in the rest of the gallery and the video here). Its release date might be timed to coincide with the brand turning 75 years old.
