Novelties
Honda continues getting a mid-size electric crossover known as the Ye S7 ready for debut on its target market of China. According to the recently submitted patent data, the base spec will get rear-wheel drive.
Back when the company unveiled it for the first time, the Ye S7 was introduced as an AWD vehicle featuring a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) motor at the front end and a 272-PS (268-hp / 200-kW) one at the back. Delivering a combined 476 PS (469 hp / 350 kW) to the wheels, it could attain a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).
The RWD modification revealed today retains the same 272-PS motor (model designation TZ220XSAMCF81) at the rear axle, but goes without a front motor.
Nothing is known about the batteries so far. The patent documents list three possible curb weights for the Honda Ye S7 RWD – 2,175, 2,178 and 2,191 kilograms (from 4,795 to 4,830 pounds). The difference may be explained by the trim options such as wheels (19”–21”), but we suspect that different battery sizes may also be on the menu.
The AWD variant of the crossover has 620 km (385 miles) of CLTC range. Its RWD cousin can be expected to run farther on the same charge.
