Honda fires a VP over improper conduct

Shinji Aoyama, 61, Executive Vice President and board member of Honda, has left his office following allegations of improper conduct at a public event.

This unspecified incident reportedly took place during Aoyama’s off hours and had nothing to do with his professional work. Nonetheless, Honda launched a disciplinary investigation that culminated in him leaving the seat after 39 years of service at Honda.

Sources say Aoyama was one of the few company leaders who answered directly to the CEO, Toshihiro Mibe. Some suspect Honda of wanting a complete leadership change and revision of its product strategy following poor financial performance in 2024. Honda stock has plummeted 22% over the past 12 months.
