New Honda Brio compact hatchback debuts in Indonesia

The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) has opened earlier today, which means the automotive world is going to be abuzz with news about fresh reveals and premieres. One of these is the second-gen Honda Brio hatchback.

The first generation has been around since 2011 and was sold in Thailand, India and Indonesia. The pre-production second-generation vehicle debuted this spring, and now we may have a look at the final version.

The updated Honda Brio may look different from its predecessor model on the outside, but its interior is virtually the same, save for a lightly redesigned instrument panel and certain decorative inlets (in the RS sport variant).

The manufacturer let the car keep its original engine. It will reach the market in Indonesia armed with a 1.2L engine producing up to 90 hp (67 kW), paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an IVT. India will receive the same engine with slightly reduced performance (88 hp / 66 kW).

Even though the compact hatchback will soon appear in the showrooms across Indonesia, the prices haven’t been revealed yet. The previous generation is available starting at U.S. $8,900.
