Honda previews an adventure-ready WR-V and a sported-up Accord HEV

The Japanese automaker will be attending the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 12–14 with a wide lineup of custom cars, including an off-road styling package for its WR-V subcompact and a sports trim for the Accord sedan.

The new WR-V version may debut in India, where the car is being sold under the name ‘Elevate’. Honda plans to start exporting it to Japan in March. The off-road trim is called Field Explorer and will debut at the show in concept status, meaning it may or may not actually reach production.

Compared to the stock WR-V/Elevate, the Field Explorer wears black body trim all around with three yellow lights above the radiator grille, large brand lettering and matching yellow fog lights. The alloy wheels and the roof rack are likewise black, and the lights all around are tinted. The CUV is 4,312 mm (168.5 inches) long.

In Japan, the WR-V will ship with a 1.5-liter petrol engine driving the front wheel with 121 PS (120 hp / 90 kW) through a CVT. Its ground clearance is not bad at 220 mm (8.6 inches).

As for the Accord HEV Sport, it is completely stock except for the added gloss-black trim pieces and wheels. It is expected to reach the market in Japan this spring.
